Because of what water does not accumulate in the washing machine, and how to fix it?

If your automated washing machine does not draw water after you turn it on, following all the instructions, then this time you will most likely have to carry out the planned hygiene measures without its help. Those who have little idea of their life without a washing machine, of course, will do something so as not to lose such a wonderful “assistant”. Few people try to figure out on their own why the breakdown occurred, and most of them are in a hurry to contact a service center with a specialist. Although all this is quite expensive, in some cases such a step is really the only way to solve the problem. But quite often you can fix the malfunction yourself, especially if you are "friends" with the equipment and have some experience in repair work.

Washing machine breakdown

In what cases is it not necessary to disassemble the machine?

There are not so few reasons that lead to the fact that after starting the washing mode, water does not enter the machine’s working drum. If you are the owner of a modern model equipped with a control display, then it will be easy to identify the causes of various breakdowns. Such units are equipped with a special program that performs internal diagnostics and displays the result on the screen if something went wrong. Therefore, if it turned out that when starting the device there is no water supply to the drum, then such a machine will certainly display an error code on the display. And your task will only be to look into the instructions and in the section about malfunctions by the code to determine why the water does not fill up and what to do in such cases.

If your washing machine does not have a fault diagnosis function, then you will be forced to find out the reason for the lack of water filling yourself. And you will have to do this in the classical way - using screwdrivers, wrenches and other tools. But before you remove the back cover of the unit housing and desperately try to figure out the wilds of its internal filling, it is worth checking the availability of water supply to the city hydro-communication system. If it is not in the water supply, then you can do little, but the most important thing is that your automatic washing device does not need to be repaired.

Sometimes the machine does not collect water for another reason, not related to the malfunction of its internal parts. Maybe you forgot to open the faucet through which water comes from the hydraulic network when you turned on the machine. Or, perhaps something happened with a water supply hose connecting the unit to the plumbing system. To make sure that everything is normal with him, follow these steps:

  1. Close the tap if, as expected, it was open at startup.
  2. Disconnect the hose from the back of the machine and drain the water out of it.
  3. Visually inspect the hose and see if it has kinks in any place.
  4. If any are found, then carefully straighten them.
  5. Reconnect the hose to the machine, open the water tap and start the device.

Faults inside the unit

If the problem that arose with the machine is not related to any of the factors mentioned above, then there will be little surface inspection, and the “root of evil” must be sought inside the device.

The internal reasons why the washing machine does not pour water into the working drum can be as follows:

  • the water supply valve is out of order;
  • problems with the pressure switch;
  • malfunction of the pump responsible for pumping water;
  • the control unit is broken;
  • the lock on the door is damaged, because of which it does not close well;
  • clogged filter mesh.

As for the last point, this is due to the fact that the water coming from the hydraulic network is not sufficiently purified. But pollution of the net does not happen by chance. Typically, a user of a typewriter noticed earlier that water flowed poorly into the drum and it was filling up more slowly. A complete shutdown of the unit indicates that pollution has reached a climax.

Tip

If the quality of your tap water leaves much to be desired, then purchase and install special filters in front of the water supply hose.

Pressure switch
A pressure switch is a part that controls the amount of water collected due to the pressure created inside it. To find out if it has broken, you need to disconnect the tube going to it and blow it in through the hole to which it was connected. If the part is serviceable, then depending on the model of the machine you will hear 1, 2 or 3 clicks. In addition, the tube itself may be the reason why the washing machine does not draw water into the drum. If a crack appears in it through which air passes, then there will be little pressure in the system and the machine will not turn on to supply water.

You can check the water supply valve by applying 220 volts to its contacts. If the valve is working and connected to the water supply, you will hear a click, after which water will flow through it into the drum. If nothing like this happened, then the part must be replaced. This is a simple procedure, as the valve can be easily removed if it is pry off with a screwdriver. If something happened to the lock and the door does not close securely, then the internal computer of the unit will consider that it is open, and the automation will not work. As for the malfunction of the pump or control unit, it is better not to do anything with them, but entrust their replacement or repair to a specialist, especially if you have little experience.
