Rules that can help prevent stains

The question of how to remove an iron stain from your favorite thing will never arise if the following rules are followed in the processing of products:

  1. If possible, the fabric should be ironed from the wrong side. If you have to work with wool and knitwear, then you can go from the face, but in this case, a protective barrier in the form of cotton cloth or gauze is necessarily applied.
  2. You should not chase fast results, exposing the mode of ironing too aggressive for a specific matter.
  3. If recommendations from the manufacturer allow, it is recommended to use the steaming mode. It is not as dangerous as direct exposure to the hot sole of the device.
  4. The iron must be cleaned regularly, otherwise the characteristic spots on the clothes will appear with frightening regularity.

In addition, do not combine ironing with other tasks, for example, watching TV or cooking. When processing some fabrics, even a few seconds of delay can lead to the appearance of tanning from the iron.

The most effective folk remedies in the fight against stains from the sole of the iron

Unaesthetic spots equally often appear on a black, color and white background. To remove the stain from the iron without a trace, you can use universal or specialized compounds, most importantly, act strictly according to the instructions, taking into account the specifics of the fabric.

  • Vinegar. Allows you to remove stains on thick black or dark material. To do this, in a glass of cool water, we dilute a tablespoon of vinegar, moisten a soft rag in the solution and process the problem area. Most often, you have to act on the touch, wiping those places where you can feel a change in the texture of the fabric. No further processing is required, just dry the garment and evaluate the result.
  • Chlorine Allows you to remove the iron stain from white cotton or linen without much hassle. The solution should be very weak, do not take more than a teaspoon of the product per liter of water. Carefully process the tan and send the product to the wash.

Tip: Do not use bleach to treat highly burnt fibers, this will only accelerate their destruction. You will have to use a softer way or think over the option of decorating things.

  • Onion. Vegetable juice will bring fresh formation with colored matter. You will have to suspend the ironing process, grate the flesh of the bulb and apply the resulting slurry to the damaged area. You can gently rub the fabric, removing traces of burnout. After such processing, the product will have to be sent to the laundry again, the only way to get rid of the persistent smell of onions.
  • Salt. A fresh stain from the iron should be sprinkled with very fine salt and pour it with cool water. We wait until the mass dries and rinse the product under running water. If the clothes are light, without bright patterns, then to enhance the effect, it is better to replace soda with lemon juice. The principle of operation is the same. If necessary, you need to wash the item again, finally getting rid of all traces.
  • Hydrogen peroxide. Traditionally used to remove any yellowish marks on white clothing. In half a glass of cool water, we dilute a teaspoon of peroxide and use this solution to treat the stain. If you can’t wipe off the formation, then simply pour the composition onto the fabric, wait a few minutes and send the product to the wash. This method will not save from inveterate brown tan, but it will easily remove yellowish fresh traces.
  • Shaver. If the trouble happened with very thick trousers, a sweater or a jacket, then the tan spot can simply be cut neatly. To do this, use a razor or a special device to remove the spools. It is worth considering that a specific area on clothing after such processing will noticeably thin out.
  • A complex approach. If you have to deal not just with a brown spot, but with a formation covered with traces of burnt fibers, then you will have to apply several techniques at once. First you will need to remove all molten villi. This can be done with a soft sandpaper, razor, eraser or tape. After the area is cleaned, we use the option of vinegar or peroxide, depending on the color of the fabric. Moreover, for processing the product you will have to use not a cloth, but a toothbrush. Then we iron the problem area and, if a positive result is obtained, we send the garment for re-washing.

If none of the methods gave the expected result, then you can proceed to alter the product or safely discard it. It is unlikely that dry cleaners or modern stain removers can do more than the time-honored folk approaches.
