Contrary to popular belief, drops of iodine solution that have fallen on the surface of the tissue - this is not a sentence. There are many recommendations on how to remove iodine from clothing using natural products or household-based formulations. These approaches have proven themselves only from the best side and have been actively used by mistresses for several decades. Moreover, there is no difference whether this stain is fresh or has long been dried, in the arsenal of home remedies you can find a solution for any occasion.

Natural remedies with which you can remove stains from iodine

If for some reason it is necessary to remove iodine from clothes as sparingly as possible, then instead of household chemicals it is better to use absolutely safe and affordable products:

Potato starch. You need to moisten the contaminated area with plenty of cool water and apply potato starch abundantly directly to the stain. The iodine-affected area should turn blue. Then we wash the product and additionally treat it with powder or stain remover. An older education will have to be left overnight under a layer of starch.

Tip: If the starch is not at hand it can be replaced with potatoes. Just cut the tuber into two parts and apply it to both sides of the tissue in the area of contamination, wait a few minutes for the juice to be absorbed into the material. Then we cover the blue area in the traditional way.

Soda and vinegar. Pour soda directly onto unwanted formations and pour vinegar on top. We remove the thing for 3-4 hours to soak. The spot during this time should become lighter or completely disappear. Then we send the product to machine wash.

Milk. Allows you to quickly and without residue remove iodine from any type of matter. Just soak the product in the drink for 20 minutes, the fat content of milk does not matter. After the specified time, the damaged area is additionally rubbed with laundry soap and a rinse. If necessary, we drive the garment through one machine wash cycle under suitable conditions.
Lemon juice. To influence the stain, it is allowed to use fresh lemon juice or a weak solution of citric acid. We apply the finished product directly to the pollution, so that the matter is well saturated. We wait a few minutes, the education should lighten right before our eyes. Then we erase the fabric in the traditional way.

In most cases, these methods can be dispensed with. If, for some reason, the formations do not want to leave the surface of the tissue or leave obvious traces behind them, they will have to resort to the use of more aggressive treatment options.

Household chemicals

The effectiveness of the following approaches depends on the type of fabric and the quality of the fibers. If in one case the spots disappear in a few seconds, then in the other one will have to try to completely remove them:

Acetone. We take a cotton pad, moisten it with acetone and begin to carefully treat the stain with soaking movements. Color intensity should decrease immediately. If this does not happen, then this option will not give the desired result. After processing, you need to remove the solvent and ventilate the product so that its specific smell disappears.
Ammonia. Suitable remedy for restoring white things. A tablespoon of the drug is diluted in a glass of slightly warm water. We moisten a cotton pad in the resulting solution and carefully treat the stain, moving in one direction, otherwise the contamination will spread. Then rinse the product and dry. If traces remain, repeat the approach.
Denatured alcohol. Suitable for colored clothing.We apply undiluted product on traces of iodine, wait 10 minutes and rinse the product. For accuracy, after processing, you can walk through the fabric with laundry soap.
Sodium hyposulfite. This drug can be purchased in a photo studio. It is simply applied to the contamination and immediately removed after the disappearance of traces of iodine. After manipulation, the garment must be washed in a machine using high-quality powder.
Vanish. Composition for cleaning carpets successfully removes iodine stains from clothes. It must be used strictly according to the instructions, then the pollution will go away, and the quality of the product will not suffer.

When using active chemicals, you must first test the product on an inconspicuous area of tissue. Only in the case of a complete absence of traces of molting or damage to the fibers, the drug can be used as directed.
