Many fans of listening to music with headphones very often encounter such a problem that after a while the sound quality, as well as the volume of the device, is noticeably reduced. The question arises: how to clean the headphones without breaking them? After all, as you know, sometimes the cause of the breakdown is the accumulated earwax and sebum. Sometimes this even leads to the complete disappearance of sound. How to get out of this unpleasant situation?

We clean the device without harm to the speakers

There are two options: buy new headphones or try to reanimate old ones. If you are a fan of high-quality sound, purchase only devices of expensive brands, then you probably will not want to lay out a substantial amount each time to buy new headphones. Therefore, let's look at how you can clean the equipment from earwax at home.

So, for this simple process, we need such an arsenal:

  • cotton buds and discs;
  • Scotch;
  • hydrogen peroxide;
  • a small container, such as a bottle cap or a glass;
  • napkins;
  • alcohol (as an alternative, you can take a glass cleaner).

After you have prepared all the necessary materials, you can proceed directly to the process of cleaning the headphones from sulfur and other accumulated contaminants. We act in a certain sequence.

  1. To get started, remove the rubber caps on the headphones, put them in a safe place so that they are not lost.
  2. Moisten a cotton pad or just a piece of cotton wool in alcohol or a glass cleaner, wipe it with all the details of the headphones: wires, volume switch, etc. All this also requires regular cleaning, if only for hygienic reasons.
  3. Next, take a convenient small container such as a bottle or glass cap, pour 1-2 tbsp into it. l hydrogen peroxide. We need to clean only the headphone mesh from sulfur, preventing liquid from getting deeper into the device. Therefore, peroxide needs very little, be careful not to overdo it.
  4. Take the headphones and gently dip them into the prepared liquid so that they are placed with the net down, then fix them in this position with tape and leave for about 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to overdo it. Be sure to ensure that the headphones are not completely dipped in peroxide, as this can harm them and the device will have to be sent to the bin.
  5. While the headphones are cleaned with peroxide, you have time to tackle the rubber earbuds, as they also accumulate traces of earwax and other impurities that need to be cleaned. To do this, use pre-prepared cotton buds. If there are none, you can use a regular toothpick by wrapping a piece of fleece on it. Soak it in alcohol or glass cleaner and wipe the rubber surface of the caps thoroughly.
  6. During this time, the headphones left in hydrogen peroxide will already be completely cleaned, they can be removed. Be careful to avoid sudden movements, as if liquid gets on the membrane or contacts, the device can be thrown away.
  7. Next, take a napkin and leave the headphones on it until it dries completely. It takes 3 to 4 hours. After that it will be possible to put on rubber caps back and continue to enjoy excellent sounding.

Alternative headphone cleaning method

However, the method described above for cleaning headphones from sulfur is not the only one. Some people prefer to use a conventional vacuum cleaner for this purpose.The whole secret lies in the nozzle, which must be done independently. For this we use improvised materials.

We need plasticine, from which it is necessary to roll a ball, equal in size to a small apple, as well as a tube, the diameter of the opening of which should be equal to the size of the headphone mesh.

We take a ball rolled from plasticine, stick the prepared tube in the center, and install this structure in the vacuum cleaner tube.

We open the hole to regulate the suction and turn on the vacuum cleaner at minimum power. Using the manufactured nozzle, we carefully clean the headphone mesh from sulfur and other contaminants accumulated there during the use.

This method will allow you to clean the headphones much easier and faster. The main thing is to do everything carefully and without rushing. In addition, this option is safer, since in the case of hydrogen peroxide there is a risk that moisture can get on the contacts of the device and spoil it.
